Reading Practices Affinity Spaces: Participatory Forms of Digital Culture

Abstract

In this paper we have analysed the social and creative activities carried out by followers of A Song of Ice and Fire series in the web Los siete Reinos. The study has revealed how readers expand and manipulate textual content in order to modify and expand the ludic and aesthetics experience related to literary works: the receiver becomes co-creator of the work. This highlights the importance of affinity spaces in the process of receiving, because it promotes interaction that goes far beyond the understanding and interpretation of the original text. From this perspective, a review of creative practices in this communicative scenario is performed to conclude that these have extraordinary learning potential through which we can come up with innovative proposals in the field of literary education.
