In relation to sexism and the teaching of argumentative and narrative texts

Abstract
This paper presents the intervention implemented in the 4th grade of Compulsory Secondary Education with two main objectives: 1) To improve reading and writing skills of narrative and argumentative texts; 2) To foster reflexive processes about the topic of sexism. The detailed description of the instruction procedure developed and the results obtained from several didactic sessions are included. It is upheld that the students of that grade are interested in the issue of women discrimination and, therefore, that this topic increases their motivation for different curricular objectives. Lastly, it is maintained that the student’s progress on linguistic and literary fields and, at same time, on critical thinking and ethical conscience is possible.
