The pedagogical ideology of José Martí and Amado Nervo
Main Article Content
Abstract
These two main writers of Latin-American Modernism were very much interested by education and teaching skills for children from Cuba and Mexico, their respective countries. This article is a study of their productions in these fields and presents their different approaches and teaching aids which enabled them to put into practice their aims. Marti wanted to awaken children’s curiosity by proposing to them articles and small fictions which he published in his magazine La Edad de Oro (The Golden Age); while Nervo took hold of textbooks to spread and apply his didactics.
